GTA 6 preload starts 10 November: UK times, storage and what to prepare

Rockstar has announced the GTA VI digital preload schedule: downloads open on 10 November 2026, ahead of the announced 19 November release. This gives players a separate preparation date to plan around. A completed preload is not permission to start playing early.

The two platform schedules

The distinction matters outside the UK: PS5 follows local time, while Xbox uses one global GMT opening. UK players are on GMT in November, so the two announced openings coincide here. These are download timings, not confirmed playable unlock times.

Make space and check your own purchase

Rockstar says the preload needs up to 212 GB of available space, depending on the device. Code-in-box versions are expected at retailers from 12 November. Check your actual order and delivery status if that is how you bought the game; the digital-store opening does not mean your retailer has delivered a code.

Our preparation suggestion is to open your console’s storage and purchase library before preload day. Confirm that you are using the account that owns the game, check the edition listed, and decide which existing downloads you can move or remove if space is tight. Do not delete saved progress just to make room.

Automatic download still needs the console ready

Rockstar’s preload FAQ says PS5 auto-downloads must be enabled with the console on or in Rest Mode. Xbox needs automatic updates enabled and the console on or in Sleep mode. The FAQ links to the platform instructions and troubleshooting pages.

After the window opens, check the download queue itself. A pre-order receipt, enough storage and a powered console are useful preparations, but the queue is where you confirm that the transfer has actually started. Allow time for your own connection and any error the console reports.

What time can UK players actually start GTA 6?

The announced release date is 19 November 2026. The UK PlayStation Store lists PS5 Standard Edition for 00:00 GMT that day, checked on 3 November. We have not verified Xbox’s playable unlock time. The 10 November opening in this article is for downloading only; a completed preload does not grant early access.
