The Diamond Casino Heist: approaches, crew and the vault

The Diamond Casino Heist arrived in December 2019 and it is still the best crew heist Rockstar has ever built: three genuinely different approaches, a vault whose contents change week to week, and enough moving parts that a practised crew looks like a film. Since July 2026 its finale also carries a boosted first-completion payout every week, which puts it firmly back on the weekly rota.

Here is what you need, how the three approaches actually differ, the crew choices that matter, and what comes out of the vault.

What you need

The host needs a Retro Arcade from Maze Bank Foreclosures; the basement is the planning board. The cheapest arcade up in Paleto Bay does the job at around GTA$1.2 million, and a city arcade simply saves you driving. The heist runs with two to four players, and each attempt costs a GTA$25,000 setup fee. Crew members need nothing but a pulse.

From the basement board you scope the casino, then scope the vault contents, then choose your approach. Scoping access points and points of interest properly matters: more doors in means more ways out when the plan goes sideways, and the plan always goes sideways eventually.

The three approaches

Silent and Sneaky is the full stealth fantasy, all cameras and guard patterns, and the most satisfying when it lands. Aggressive is a shotgun through the front door, quicker to set up, with the take shrinking every time you get shot. The Big Con is the community''s pick, and one disguise in particular is the closest thing this heist has to a cheat code: the Gruppe Sechs security uniforms walk you through the front entrance, straight down to the vault, unchallenged, with the exit disguise waiting for the way out. If you are teaching a new crew the heist, teach them Big Con with Gruppe Sechs first.

One design note that keeps it fresh: the approach you just used is locked for your next attempt, so crews rotate through all three whether they planned to or not.

The crew picks that matter

Your support crew take percentage cuts, and only one of those percentages genuinely buys you money: the hacker. Avi Schwartzman, unlocked by finding all fifty signal jammers around the map, gives you the longest undetected time in the vault, about three and a half minutes, and is worth every point of his cut. Paige Harris is the next best thing. On Big Con the gunman''s gear barely matters, so the cheapest option does fine, and the same logic goes for the driver if you are confident in your own getaway.

Prep missions stock the arcade basement before launch, and on louder plans the optional Duggan Shipments run, destroying the family''s security shipments around the map, strips armour off the guards you are about to meet. Worth it every time you intend to be seen.

What is in the vault

The vault''s contents are scoped each run, and the long-standing maximum values on normal difficulty have held for years: cash at roughly GTA$2.1 million, artwork around GTA$2.35 million, gold about GTA$2.58 million, and diamonds at roughly GTA$3.6 million when Rockstar rotates them in during event weeks. Hard mode adds 10%. Artwork is the sweet spot in practice, quickest to grab with no movement penalty; gold pays more on paper and slows you down for it. Lester and your support crew take their cuts off the top, and damage taken on the way out bleeds the bag, so the clean run is the rich run.

The 2026 overlay

Since the July update, the finale''s first completion each week pays a substantially boosted rate, resetting every Thursday with the normal weekly reset. Combined with the approach rotation, that makes the Casino a proper weekly fixture: one quality run, a different approach each time, boosted money every Thursday.

Finding a crew

This is a two-player minimum and a four-player heist at its best, and GTA Online has no crossplay, so your crew has to share your platform.
