The Cayo Perico Heist in 2026: what the nerfs left behind
The Cayo Perico Heist has been GTA Online''s solo institution since December 2020: your own submarine, El Rubio''s island, and a payday nobody else gets a cut of. It is still the best solo earner in the game. What it is not, any more, is a guaranteed million every run. Two rounds of cuts in July 2026 trimmed the repeatable primary targets and took 10% off secondary loot, and Rockstar never put the primary cut in the patch notes, so every current figure below comes from community-tested runs rather than official numbers. We say so because that is the honest position.
This guide covers the setup, how a run flows, what the targets are actually worth today, and the weekly rhythm that now decides whether a run is worth starting at all.
What you need
One purchase: the Kosatka submarine from Warstock Cache and Carry, GTA$2,200,000 at base price. It is the planning base for the whole heist and doubles as one of the best utility vehicles in the game, so it earns its keep. The heist runs with one to four players, and everything except the gold and the compound''s double-locked stashes is reachable solo.
Every run costs a GTA$100,000 setup fee, paid from the Kosatka''s planning screen. Hard Mode is a timing trick: when Pavel texts you after the cooldown, start the next run within 48 real minutes and the heist launches on Hard, which adds 10% to the primary target''s value.
How a run flows
Your first visit goes through the Music Locker and a party invitation to the island; every run after that starts at the planning screen. The loop is the same each time: fly out and scope the island to identify the primary target and the entry points, gather intel on secondary loot around the compound and the wider island, run the equipment preps your chosen approach needs, then launch the finale.
The finale itself is famously flexible, and the community settled the argument years ago: the stealth route in and the drainage tunnel or a quiet swim out is the fastest, safest pattern for a solo player. Loud works, but every alert costs you time, and on this island time is money in the most literal sense.
What the targets pay now
One primary target spawns per run, assigned when you scope. Community-tested values as of early August 2026:
- Panther Statue: GTA$1,900,000, or GTA$2,090,000 on Hard. Only appears during selected events
- Pink Diamond: around GTA$910,000, or roughly GTA$1,001,000 on Hard, and now a reported 2% chance on repeat runs
- Madrazo Files: about GTA$1,100,000, guaranteed on your first-ever run and never seen again
- The everyday tier: Sinsimito Tequila, Ruby Necklace and Bearer Bonds, all cut in the July adjustment, with the Tequila showing up on a reported 80% of repeat runs
Secondary loot fills your one bag on top: cocaine is the best value for space, gold pays well but needs two players to open, and the office safe has been capped low since 2023, at GTA$20,000. All secondary values run about 10% under their old numbers.
What that means in practice: a typical repeat run, Tequila primary with a full cocaine bag and the safe, grosses roughly GTA$600,000 to GTA$680,000 before the GTA$100,000 fee. The best realistic solo run, a Hard Mode Pink Diamond with cocaine, lands between about GTA$1,000,000 and GTA$1,300,000 gross. Good money. Just not the printer it used to be.
The weekly rhythm
The July update also changed the odds clock. The window that decides which primary you are offered now resets with the normal Thursday weekly reset instead of every three days, so hammering repeat runs mostly hands you Tequila after Tequila. The play in 2026 is one or two quality Cayo runs per week, slotted around the classic heists that now carry big first-completion weekly bonuses. Cooldowns are 144 real minutes after a solo finale and 48 with a crew, and the timer keeps running while you are offline.
Bringing a crew
Solo is Cayo''s whole identity, but a second player opens the gold and the locked stashes and doubles the bag space, which on a good spawn day is the difference between leaving money and taking the lot. GTA Online has no crossplay, so crews are platform-locked, which is exactly how the SixCentral Raid Finder works: Xbox with Xbox, PS5 with PS5, one tap to join and the host gets your gamertag. It lives in our Discord, which opens from your account page, and the online desk is at sixcentral.co.uk/online.
Run it on the reset, take the scope seriously, and treat anything above a million as a good week rather than an entitlement. The island still pays. It just pays professionals now.
