GTA 6 car theft: entering a vehicle and starting it

One GTA 6 scene offers a slim jim or a smashed window. A later scene shows work at a steering column. They reveal different stages of taking a vehicle, without demonstrating a penalty for choosing either entry method.

This breakdown uses Rockstar’s official Extended Look. The timestamp links open the source at the relevant moment, so you can compare the description with the moving sequence.

What the footage shows

Slim jim or smash the window

Two separate actions appear at the red convertible’s door: a tool entry and breaking the window.

Watch 06:04–06:09

The footage does not quantify noise, police response or success rates for either choice.

A steering-column tool is visible during the escape

A tool is used around the steering column before the getaway accelerates.

Watch 12:09–12:11.5

The clip does not describe a minigame, skill check or theft progression system.

The convertible roof moves during the drive

The red convertible’s roof retracts as the road sequence begins.

Watch 08:20–08:28

The footage does not establish which other vehicles offer it.

What this means

A controlled comparison would need the same situation played both ways. An edited showcase does not provide that. We can describe the available entry actions and visible starting animation, but cannot yet rank them by noise, speed or police response.
