GTA Online vehicle performance: tested top speeds and lap times
Image: Rockstar GamesThe stat bars in Legendary Motorsport are relative and misleading. They do not tell you how fast a car actually is. Everything on this page comes from controlled straight-line and lap testing by Broughy1322, the long-standing community benchmark, measured with vehicles fully upgraded.
Two exclusions worth knowing. Rocket-boosted and weaponised cars are left out of the car ranking, because a temporary boost is not a top speed and they are banned from most races anyway. Weaponised bikes stay in the motorcycle list and are marked. For buying advice rather than raw numbers, see our main vehicles guide.
The headline numbers
- Fastest car on all platforms: the Grotti Cartuccia GT at 139 mph.
- Fastest car anywhere: the Bravado Banshee GTS at 172.5 mph after a Hao Special Works conversion, Enhanced platforms only.
- Fastest motorcycle: the Western Reever at 163 mph.
- Best tested lap by a standard car: the BR8 Formula 1 car at 0:54.555.
- Best value speed: the BF Weevil Custom at 137.5 mph, fourth overall, and it is a Benny custom rather than a supercar.
Note for anyone reading our older comparison page: the Banshee GTS was the outright leader until the Cartuccia GT arrived with the Kortz Center Heist update in July 2026. On standard tuning the Cartuccia now edges it by a single mile per hour.

Best lap times, which is what actually wins races
This is the part most buyers get wrong. Races are decided by corners, and corners reward acceleration, braking and traction rather than a terminal speed you reach on one straight. Look at the Cartuccia GT: fastest car in the game, and a lap over six seconds slower than a BR8.
If you race other players, buy off this table, not the one above.
| Vehicle | Lap time | Top speed rank |
|---|---|---|
| BR8 (Formula 1) | 0:54.555 | Not in top 27 |
| PR4 (Formula 1) | 0:56.356 | Not in top 27 |
| DR1 (IndyCar) | 0:56.473 | Not in top 27 |
| R88 (Formula 1) | 0:56.540 | Not in top 27 |
| Emerus | 0:57.624 | Not in top 27 |
| FMJ MK V | 0:57.774 | 9th |
| Turismo Omaggio | 0:57.775 | Not in top 27 |
| Krieger | 0:57.924 | Not in top 27 |
| LRC GT | 0:58.275 | 22nd |
| Pipistrello | 0:58.541 | Not in top 27 |
What HSW actually changes
Hao Special Works conversions are fitted at the LS Car Meet and are available only on PS5, Xbox Series X and S, and Enhanced PC. They add roughly thirty miles per hour on top of what Los Santos Customs can do, which is why the HSW ceiling sits so far above every figure in the main table.
The Banshee GTS at 172.5 mph is the record. On bikes, the Hakuchou Drag goes from 126.5 mph stock to 157.5 mph converted, with a 0:52.736 lap, which makes it the fastest tested motorcycle lap in the game.
If you are on PS4 or Xbox One, none of this is available to you and the standard tables above are your ceiling.
How to actually use this
- Cruising and highway pulls: buy off the top speed table.
- Racing other players: buy off the lap time table.
- Freemode survival: neither. Buy something Imani Tech eligible and fit the Missile Lock-On Jammer.
- On a budget: the Weevil Custom is fourth fastest in the game and a Benny build rather than a supercar.
- On Enhanced: HSW is a bigger upgrade than any car purchase you can make. Convert what you own before buying something new.
