The Dr. Dre Contract: the complete guide to The Data Leaks

The Dr. Dre Contract, listed in game as The Data Leaks and known to most people as Don''t F*** With Dre, is the headline job of The Contract update. It is a multi-part VIP Contract run out of your Agency, it can be played solo or with up to three others, and it is comfortably one of the best written missions Rockstar has put into GTA Online.

It also pays properly, and the first completion each week carries a bonus multiplier, which makes it a legitimate weekly earner rather than a one-off story detour.

What you need first

  • An Agency. Bought from Dynasty 8 Executive, this is non-negotiable. The Contract does not exist without one.
  • One completed Security Contract. Take any job from the Agency computer and finish it to unlock the VIP Contract slot.
  • Franklin will then call you. He wants to meet at Los Santos Golf Club to introduce a new client.

The golf club meeting is a short one-time prerequisite mission rather than part of the contract proper. Dre gets into a dispute with two golfers, you and Franklin chase them down in a Caddy and ram them until their cart gives out. Finish it and the contract unlocks on the Agency computer.

How it is structured

This trips people up because it does not run like a heist. There is no single linear chain.

You start a one-time Free Mode setup from the Agency computer. That opens three separate mission strands, each made up of two Free Mode setups and a finale. You can run the three strands in any order you like. Once all three are done, two closing finales become available from Franklin''s office.

So the shape is: prerequisite, setup, three strands of three, then two finales. Budget a couple of hours for a first full run and considerably less on repeats once you know the routes.

Running it solo

It is fully soloable and most of it is comfortable alone. The Free Mode setups are the awkward part, because they happen in a public session and you are carrying objectives around a map that may contain someone in an oppressor.

Two fixes. Use an invite only or friends only session where the mission allows it. And use Imani Tech on whatever you are driving. The missiles that ruin these setups are homing missiles, and Imani Tech blocks lock-on entirely. It is one of the genuinely best purchases in the game and it is unlocked by the same update.

Practical tips

  • Do it with a crew if you can. Several stages involve holding a position or splitting objectives, and four people cuts the time roughly in half.
  • Take the Agency Armory discount. Weapons and Mk II conversions are cheaper bought there than at Ammu-Nation.
  • The Compact EMP Launcher and Stun Gun are Agency exclusives. The EMP Launcher is situationally excellent against vehicles across the whole update.
  • Do not skip the cutscenes on a first run. The writing is the reason this mission has the reputation it does, and there is a decent amount of it.
  • Track your weekly reset. The first completion bonus refreshes weekly, so running it once a week is worth substantially more than running it three times in one sitting.

What you get out of it

Beyond the payout, finishing the contract permanently improves the Agency. Franklin and Imani both unlock services you keep, and the whole update is built around making the Agency a hub rather than a one-note earner: Payphone Hits, Security Contracts and the Imani Tech workshop all feed off owning one.

The music is the other reason to bother. Six previously unreleased Dr. Dre tracks debuted inside this update and several of them are woven into the missions themselves rather than just sitting on a radio station.

Is it worth it in 2026?

Yes, with a caveat. If you already own an Agency, the Dre contract is one of the best hours you can spend in GTA Online and the weekly bonus keeps it relevant. If you do not own an Agency, buying one purely for this is a big spend, and there are cheaper routes to similar money.

The honest framing: buy the Agency for Imani Tech, Payphone Hits and Security Contracts, then treat the Dre contract as the very good thing you get for free alongside them.

Payouts and weekly bonuses rotate. Check the current week before planning a session around it.
