The Bail Office: the complete Bottom Dollar Bounties guide

The Bail Office is the most overlooked business in GTA Online. It came in with the Bottom Dollar Bounties update in June 2024, it costs a fraction of what a Nightclub or an Agency does, it runs solo without a single setup mission, and in May 2026 Rockstar quietly raised every bounty payout by fifty per cent. If you have been skipping it because the name sounds boring, you have been leaving money on the table.

What it actually is

You take over Bottom Dollar Bail Enforcement from Maude Eccles, working alongside her daughter Jenette. Rather than producing and selling stock like a Bunker or an MC business, you hunt people. Targets appear on a computer in your office, you go and get them, you bring them back, you get paid.

That difference matters. There is no supply run, no production timer, no sell mission that can be griefed into oblivion by a jet. It is closer to Payphone Hits or Dispatch Work than to a traditional front, which makes it one of the few businesses that is genuinely good to own if you mostly play alone.

Buying one

Bail Offices are bought from Maze Bank Foreclosures on your in-game phone. There are five locations and, functionally, they are identical. The office layout, the computer, the holding cell, the safe, the garage and the branded Bail Enforcement van are the same wherever you buy.

So buy on location, not on price. You want to be near the middle of the map, because targets spawn all over Southern San Andreas and you will be driving to them and back constantly. A central office cuts minutes off every single bounty. If money is tight, buy the cheapest one and move later. Bail Offices rotate through the weekly discounts fairly often, so if you are not in a rush it is worth waiting for a sale.

How bounties work

The Bail Enforcement System computer in your office lists two kinds of job.

  • Standard targets. Three are listed at a time. You can run as many as you like, back to back, with no daily cap. These are the bread and butter.
  • Most Wanted targets. One is listed at a time and it can only be completed once per day. These are longer, more scripted missions built around a specific named fugitive, and they pay considerably more.

The single most important rule: targets are worth more alive than dead. Killing a bounty still pays, but it pays badly. Every mission you run should be planned around bringing the person back breathing.

Bring the Stun Gun

This is the whole guide in one line. Take non-lethal equipment and your income roughly doubles compared to shooting everything.

The Stun Gun is the tool of choice and it is sold from the Agency Armory if you have one. If you do not, a fist fight works and so does anything that subdues without killing. What you must not do is bring a shotgun into a room with your target in it and hope for the best. Bounty targets are not bullet sponges and a stray round will cost you the alive bonus for that entire job.

Practical loadout: Stun Gun for the target, something normal for the escorts and guards around them, and body armour, because the escorts will shoot back properly.

The routine that pays

  • Log in, go to the office, open the computer.
  • Run the Most Wanted target first. It is the biggest single payout available to you today and it resets daily, so if you only have twenty minutes this is the one to do.
  • Clear the three Standard targets. New ones populate, so you can keep going as long as you have patience.
  • Empty the safe. Like most businesses, income accrues into a safe in the office and it caps, so collecting regularly matters.
  • Check whether Bounties are on a weekly multiplier before you start. Rockstar boosts them reasonably often and it changes whether this is your best earner that week or a filler.

The awards, and why you should care

Progress is tracked under Stats, Awards, Bottom Dollar Bounties. Jenette upgrades the office as you go, and the milestones run at four, ten and one hundred bounties. The one worth chasing is bringing in all twenty-four distinct targets alive, which unlocks the handcuffs. It is a completionist goal rather than a money goal, but it lines up neatly with playing the business correctly anyway.

Where it sits against everything else

Be honest about this. The Bail Office is not going to out-earn a well-run Cayo Perico or the weekly Kortz Center run, and it is not trying to. What it is, is a low buy-in, zero-setup, solo-safe activity with a daily high-value job and unlimited repeatable filler, and that combination is rare.

It is at its best as part of a rotation. Do the Most Wanted target, empty the safe, then move on to your heavier earners. Treat it as a hundred per cent of your income and you will get bored. Treat it as the first fifteen minutes of a session and it is one of the better things Rockstar has added in years.

Quick answers

  • Can you run it solo? Yes, entirely. No setups, no crew required.
  • Do you need a specific other property first? No. You can buy a Bail Office as your first business.
  • Does the Most Wanted target reset if you fail? It is a once per day job, so a failed attempt is expensive. Bring armour.
  • Is the Bail Enforcement van worth using? It is free and it is right there, but a fast personal vehicle gets you across the map quicker. Use whatever is nearest.

Payouts, discounts and weekly multipliers rotate every Thursday. Check the current week before you commit a session to it.
