The Acid Lab: the complete business guide
The Acid Lab is the best business in GTA Online for a solo player, and it is not close. It arrived with Los Santos Drug Wars in December 2022, runs out of the back of a lorry, costs almost nothing to start, and pays out with a single delivery vehicle and none of the convoy stress the older businesses inflict. In 2026 it is the standard first purchase advice for a reason: it pays for itself in six or seven sells and then just keeps going.
This guide is the full loop: unlocking it for free, the one upgrade that matters, the supply-and-sell rhythm and the daily boost, with the verified numbers underneath. Figures are checked against current tracked values as of early August 2026.
Step 1: unlock it, and get paid to do so
- Take the call from Ron and run the First Dose missions, six story missions around the Freakshop with Dax and the Fooligans
- The missions themselves pay around GTA$600,000 all told, so the unlock is profitable before the business even exists
- Finishing them hands you the Freakshop as a base and the Brickade 6x6 lorry that houses the lab, free
- There is no property purchase anywhere in this chain, which is why this is the standard first-business advice for new players
Step 2: buy the only upgrade that matters
- Run Fooligan jobs for Dax until the equipment upgrade unlocks, then buy it for about GTA$750,000
- It speeds production and lifts the value of every batch from that day on, and it is the best upgrade-per-pound purchase in the game
- That GTA$750,000 is the entire meaningful cost of this business, and at full batch values it pays itself back in six or seven sells
Step 3: run the loop
- Buy supplies from the lab screen rather than stealing them; the maths favours cash sourcing once the upgrade is in
- Production runs in the background while you do literally anything else: heists, races, other businesses
- Trigger the daily production boost at the Freakshop when you pass through, it speeds the batch by half and costs nothing
Step 4: sell
- A full batch with the upgrade sells for GTA$335,200, and the daily boost pushes effective earnings toward the GTA$385,000 figure trackers report
- Every sell uses a single delivery vehicle, solo-friendly by design, roughly ten minutes of work
- Self-supplied and sold on rhythm it clears GTA$100,000 an hour net without ever being your main activity
The reference layer
The whole case in one paragraph: setup cost effectively GTA$750,000 after a profitable unlock, GTA$335,200 per full upgraded batch, over GTA$100,000 an hour self-supplied, one delivery vehicle every time, and production that never asks for your attention. There is no raid stress and no crew requirement. The one honest limitation is scale: it will never pay like a Kortz week or a Cayo run, because it is the reliable floor underneath those, not the ceiling. Buy it first, keep it running forever.
Where it fits
The 2026 solo stack is built on exactly this: the Acid Lab as your active floor, a Nightclub accruing passively behind it, and heists as the spikes on top. Our heists comparison lays out the spike side, and the online desk at sixcentral.co.uk/online carries every guide, on the site and in the SixCentral app.
Free to unlock, paid to learn it, one lorry, one delivery, forever. Dax would call it the peoples business, and for once the Fooligans are right.
